First Choice Labels Ltd deemed a critical manufacturer

Teesside-based First Choice Labels Ltd has been deemed a critical manufacturer as part of the UK’s Covid-19 response effort.

As a prominent manufacturer of labels for hand sanitiser, pharmaceuticals, prescriptions and food, a decision has been taken to keep the 16,000sq ft Redcar factory running night and day.

All staff were consulted by management and in full agreement to keep manufacturing for as long as supply was necessary.

Production Manager Colin Harbinson said “We asked all the manufacturing staff their opinion in a confidential poll. We were absolutely amazed and delighted when the answer was a unanimous ‘Yes’ to keep manufacturing. It demonstrates in an unequivocal way the professionalism and commitment our staff have for our customers.”

First Choice Labels will be operating a split shift system to allow 16 hours manufacture per day and to minimise the amount of staff in the building at any one time. Sales staff have already been asked to work from home while admin staff have been reduced to a minimum. Only critical manufacturing staff and management will be permitted entry to the secured building.
