Thermal Transfer ribbons are used with Thermal Transfer label printers to actually lay the print on to the label face. For this reason it is vitally important that the right label face and ribbon combination is used or the result will be poor print quality.

In the main there are three different types of Ribbon:

  • Wax based - Inexpensive ribbons for printing onto Paper
  • Wax / Resin - A more durable print for outdoor applications
  • Full Resin - Used when the print simply must not be removed
